Denmark's oldest specialty store with genuine rugs celebrates its 80th anniversary.
In 1943, Erling Wiinstedt established his first rug store in Dronningens Tværgade in Copenhagen. Since then, he has had stores in Ny Østergade and Holbergsgade until he moved to the current address at Strandboulevarden 9 in 1981.
The many years of appraisal and manual repair work of genuine rugs gave Erling Wiinstedt and later Boris Wiinstedt Zeichner a rare knowledge of quality and technique in all types of rugs. Erling Wiinstedt was therefore a natural honorary member of the Society for Oriental Carpet Art, where Boris Wiinstedt Zeichner is currently the chairman.
